

Autumn leaves strewn on the table
Napkins folded around the silver
Snow falling outside to play in later
Football droning in another room
Children sneaking pickles off the relish plate
Mom stirring mashed potatoes
Dad carving the turkey for a platter
Teenagers counting heads and finding extra chairs
Finally everyone is seated and quiet
The youngest at the table starts, “Thank you God. . .”

I wish I still had this. Grandparents and parents are gone. This is the first Thanksgiving after my mommy died. 😦

Oh, so sorry. It does take a toll. I’m the grandmother now, husband gone. My kids in-laws are still living too. Aging is not fun sometimes.
