Silence fell over the large group of consultants. Hearing the lies of their president once again and knowing the crisis was imminent, they were fraught with worry. His probe coverup was not working; there were too many reliable leaks. He played the “I never did that” card one too many times and even previous supporters were now viewing him with disgust.
Their own reputations were sullied and some were faced with either a man-up or a cry for them to resign.
