“Ouch! That broom has splinters!” The old witch rubbed her backside and shook the rattle of her skull wand at the novice. “Your job is to polish the broom every morning after my night rides!”
The young witch had worked hard to get the old one’s approval. Earning the full hat was a difficult task but she wanted it badly. The rules stated a few bat wings she had earned as a hat were not enough to ride out on All Hallows’ eve. It was coming right up, she only had a few days left to impress the old one.
“Get stirring that brew, everyone will be here shortly! Pong it strong, use the rat skins and cow pies, to make it reek. That takes time, so get moving! I doubt you’ll qualify as a full fledged witch this year, if you keep this up.”
The younger witch added more of the strong smelling ingredients and stirred quickly. A young hag’s work was never done.
