A Rose by any Other Name. . .

Joe and Jack were searching the woods for something new, something nice. After hearing their moms irate tirade this morning, they thought maybe finding something pretty might please her. It was suddenly right in front of them, a flower they’d not seen before. They thought they had found the gift they needed.

They picked it out of the ground carefully, ensuring the roots were intact. When the two arrived home, they went into the garage and picked out an old green moss trimmed pot to plant it in. They were so excited to present it to their mom.

“Oh my goodness”, she cried, knowing she had let her temper get away from her earlier. She bent down to sniff it and a weird look came over her face. The boys had picked a “Stinking Benjamin” otherwise known as a red trillium. Beautiful and unique, but not emitting a delightful fragrance. The boys also sniffed out of curiosity and it was decided to put the gift high on a shelf above their noses.
