Rising from their bed, Marie looked back at her husband. There he was, asleep, feeling no pain at last. The past few nights had been unbearable, but now he seemed peaceful.
Arguing about treatment had been the subject of their disagreements the past weeks. They both knew, even unspoken, the treatments would fail eventually. The entire family wanted him to take the medical advice, have the operations–try.
The fact there was no cure remained an unbridgeable reality to his loved ones.
