Everything was planned from the smallest toothbrush and paste to the costume wardrobe, packed and ready for this adventure. Mary and Joe had led pretty boring lives until now and felt it was time to kick up their heels. They booked passage on the Mystic Miss for a mock pirate cruise. It started out well, even though the expense of the authentic trunks of vintage clothes and footwear cost them handsomely, they decided for once in their lives to be spontaneous.
The first morning on ship, they were summoned by the ship’s captain to assemble. As the attendants filed on deck, they noticed a few ominous looking occupants in full pirate gear surrounding them. Stepping up beside the Captain, the Quartermaster proceeded to loudly assign duties. This was not going to be a pleasure cruise.
Joe, looking reasonably fit, was assigned the dangerous job of Gunner. He smiled at this, thinking he would enjoy standing beside a canon in full gear, a great photo op. Mary was assigned to the galley as most of the women aboard. She looked questioning at Joe, upset she would be separated from him during the day for the entire trip.
Other participants were also disappointed, but as many do, failed to read the fine print on the their tickets. By the time they realized their fate, they were well underway at sea. However the circumstances, no landlubber dared to disagree and did their assigned tasks as best they could. It all went well until they spied a large pleasure cruiser getting closer to them.
The Master Gunner filled the canon and Joe was given an order to light the fuse when ready. Not fearing the consequences, thinking this was all a ruse, he was excited to do it. When the canon ball tore a big fiery hole in the nearby yacht, he fainted.
Joe woke up sweaty and nervous. He walked over to his bureau and looked closely at the fantasy cruise tickets. He read the fine print. Over breakfast he explained his dream and the fine print to his wife. They would be asking for a refund.

Great story. Caught the fine print in time.
