Today’s prompt: burglar, tutu, geometry

***

Sneaking into the professor’s office at eleven that evening, was not a burglar, but two students. Joe and Jack crept over to the filing cabinet. Their goal was to gather the forthcoming exam and copy it to study. Geometry had never been either student’s forte and this was their misconceived idea to rectify the situation.

Both students had spent the earlier part of the night in the theater department, rehearsing the all male production of Swan Lake. Neither young man had time to change from their costumed tutu and it became quite unwieldy as they snuck into and out of the office window.

All was going fine, exam papers retrieved and copied, stuck into one’s tights, and they thought their mission accomplished. One final misstep as they were leaving, when Joe’s tutu was caught on the stick used to prop up the window. Hanging on the edge of the window sill, he could either let go and fall to the ground or unhook the tutu. He chose the latter, the stick fell, window shut quickly causing the glass to break, and setting off an alarm.

The collapsed caper resulted in two ballet buffoons quickly quashed by campus cops.
