
He steadied the oars and sat there drifting. Afraid to be seen or make any disturbance, he leaned back in the small boat, contemplating how he could manage it.
She was there, he felt her presence even this far away. Thinking he could send a message for her to meet him on a night like this, might work, maybe they could be together. It would only be temporary and they both wanted more.
He sat up and rowed back to his side of the shore. Separated by much more than water, he tied up the boat and once again went to sleep discouraged.
