I never minded taking inventory when I worked retail. It was always done after the store closed, you could dress casually, and joke around, have a soda and even a snack, definite no no’s during business hours.
It afforded unrestricted access to your coworkers, getting to know them better. When I did this job later in life as a temp worker, it was also enjoyable.
