Ever wonder about how people really think of you? As I was answering questions posed by Sadje I thought about one of my answers – most of my friends don’t even know I write. Think about it, do your friends or family know you like to write and do they read it? Really read it?
A couple of relatives asked about when my grandson was going to the World Series as a guest of Sharon Robinson and the MLB. I had written an email about it already so sent a copy of that recent post that said pretty much everything. I preface this with most of us don’t write actual letters anymore, just on birthdays. Maybe that’s the reason? I just received a response today from an old friend who asked what the essay was about. Is it me or what? Doesn’t the post explain it clearly?
I’m not ranting, really I’m not. I guess I’m disappointed that an old friend couldn’t take the time to read the letter. I do not expect anyone to read posts, especially my friends. I would like to be anonymous in my writing here on the blog, to people I grew up with. I write a lot of personal stories and sometimes add fiction, and write a lot of fiction in the first person. But saying that, I thought, why respond to the letter when you haven’t even read it?
I get that here on the blog, and it’s certainly not surprising. I write a lot, probably too much. I usually write without thinking about how other people interpret it. That’s happened with my commenting and I’m trying to be more careful responding. Sometimes I only post a like but sometimes I feel I need to comment because it touched me in some way. I love, love comments. It means you took the time to read something I scribbled.
I hope I’m explaining this right. All of us can look at a piece of blank paper and see something different. That’s one reason I love prompts–pictures and words. Reading the different interpretations is fun and interesting, and gives insight to the writer’s personality. That’s the basic reason I’m here. To express myself and learn about other people around the world.
I think I was disappointed in my friend and had to talk about it. Blabbing about things here helps me deal with stuff. ๐
So how ’bout them Red Sox?
1. Thank you for making me laugh with the minion on top. That’s why I never really got to watching talent shows. People can do such great things and yet they are not world famous. So how can I get anywhere without a talent? But we all DO have talents…
2. It happens to me every now and again, too, when I email/ txt a link to someone, and then they ask me what it was about. REALLY? I know there are people who spam, but I am not one of them. If you receive a link from me once every 6 months or a year, you should know that it is something I REALLY thought you should see.
3. My family/ friends don’t read my blog. Deep down I am afraid to show them my writing. Maybe it’s because I think it’s not something they would enjoy (different interests). Or maybe I don’t give them enough credit. Also, I like having a part of me that is not know of by my closest people. Hard to explain…
4. I feel exactly the same about prompts. And I encourage everyone to participate, because it is mind-boggling how different people can interpret a word so differently.

People are busy these days, even the ones we love or who say that they love us. I have just told my kids and husband about my blog. My husband has to read my posts as I show them to him before I post. My kids seldom have time to read anything I post. Same goes for my friends. But I am not bothered about that because I have this amazing blogging family where people not only read but also appreciate. Not only comment but also replay to my comments. So who else do we need!

Go Sox! We hate the Dodgers here in this house (SF Bay Area). I get what you mean about people not reading the whole thing or asking questions that you think have clearly been answered. Irritating sometimes, isn’t it!

I love reading your posts, theyโre just the right length for my attention span ๐ I like the fact that I can write little sarcastic comments and you donโt get offended. I only do it to. Are you smile. My sister reads my posts, both of my daughters know I post things on here but they lead busy lives ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I quite like being anonymous ๐ค

I used to write all the time as a kid and have my Mother and Grandmother read them. For a christmas present one year when I was about 18ish I wrote something for my Grandmother and she deadpanned turned to me and said, “I didn’t know you could write.” That was the day I stopped. I only started writing creatively again six months ago. My mother calls what a do “little stories” then asks when am I going to get a job. My brother bought my ebook and hasn’t said a word about it. I don’t expect him to either. It’s just the way it is.
People can be hurtful without intending to be, but then people wonder why some keep so many secrets that aren’t even secrets.

I agree no harm was meant. I can’t believe you spent so much time not writing. You have a huge imagination. I only started writing here on the blog and it keeps me busy. People are funny, or as I say, weird, and I’m including myself of course. Glad you are writing now.
