I never cared for this word, tardy
I was never that foolhardy
For school I always took the bus
Small neighbor van drove all of us
He was a neighbor, son a classmate of mine
We lived miles apart and his driving was fine
Old Mr. Adams we used to call him
Acting well behaved and prim
So if lateness an issue, it wasn’t us
It was the old guy driving the bus!
Apologies, Mr. Adams. I expect lightning in my area soon.
He was a very nice guy. Drove the farm kids that were scattered to a one room schoolhouse. His son was in my grade. There were about four of us in each grade.
