Going shopping tomorrow
I know what you’re thinking
Joining the rest of the zoo
Dazzled eyes will keep blinking
The lights are really my fave
Trees all aglow, I could rave
On about all the decorations
Even Salvation Army stations
These people who man them
Deserve an anthem
Daily ringing the bell
Hoping donations swell.
Then there are Santas at every turn
Seeing them what do kids really learn
When do they start to ask if he’s real
We always delayed just to keep the feel
Of wonderment and surprise
Closeted presents from prying eyes
Yes, I agree, shopping’s a zoo
But I’ve nothing better to do
Standing in lines listening to hymns
Admiring all the Christmas trims
I’m really looking forward to it
The people, the music, all of it.
