Prompt 3037 – First Line of the Week

One minute the teacher was talking about the Civil War. And the next minute he was gone. –Gone by Michael Grant

None of us liked him.  He was a General Science teacher and most of us in the classroom were only there because it was a curriculum  requirement.  His name among the braver students was “chrome dome” because he was a bald, middle aged man who must have hated his career choice.

His favorite activity was belittling the lesser academically inclined.  If they didn’t know the answer, didn’t raise their hand, he would single them out, make them get up and stand in front of the rest of the class.  This happened repeatedly during one class period.

This particular afternoon, all the students in the class decided enough was enough.  They asked the benevolent Guidance Counselor to step in.  When he opened the door, an aura of light surrounded him.

One minute old chrome dome was berating a shy student and the next, he was gone.
