Daily Prompt: Overwhelm

Have you ever looked at your child or grandchild and been overwhelmed by love or pride, or both? I have, and do. I remember sitting in the high school auditorium watching my oldest son performing in musicals,  talent shows and plays. I was so overtaken with emotion. I came home from work one day to find him on our only bit of tile floor, the doorway, practicing tap dancing. He never had any lessons, he was just determined to do well. It’s okay you can laugh, but this boy could sing and dance and act, and do comedy like a pro. I admit I encouraged it. In grade school we dressed him and a friend up as old-time-radio era reporters doing the script from “Who’s on First?” Later on he and a different friend were the Blues Brothers in a high school talent show. These men now are fathers themselves and I’m sure they will experience those same feelings. I still do, watching them with their wives and children and all that love and happiness just gives you a sense of peace and thankfulness.

  1. Think I’m just the emotional type. Church makes a mess of me too. My daughter’s wedding rehearsal when she and my husband walked down the aisle, thought it would be out of my system. Helped some but the next day the groom’s friends were prepared with Kleenex. So cute!

  2. I know what you mean I’m the same and if I go to a nativity play and they start singing I start crying. 😭 then I look at all the children and wonder how their lives will be. Happy I hope. 🙂
