“Mind the gauge, we don’t want to take that steep hill too fast.” The conductor winked at the boy, “don’t worry son, well make it!” The conductor always let his son accompany him on Christmas Eve. Every year since he was two years old, the boy could not wait to take the Polar Express with his dad.
“Watch for the curves, soon we’ll be at the lake, what an adventure that was last year, remember?” Suddenly the boy looked nervous, remembering the wild ride on the ice. “It will be fine. We have Santa’s magic to guide us. Now get yourself some hot chocolate and stop worrying.”
The boy entered the passenger compartment to hear everyone sing, “hot, hot hot” and some were dancing! He smiled and knew everything was going to be fine.
