SoCS – 3-27-21 – Run

Run(ning) used to be what we called taking kids to school, going on errands to pay bills, fill the the car with gas, grocery shop or pick up other kids in a carpool, or volunteering at school, and more. I never minded doing any of that running around. I loved driving and it was part of my “job” as a young mother.

“Stay at home mothers” is a misnomer and I still resent it whenever any mom is asked “do you work?” as if when you do not have a monetary paying job you are a lesser person. I did run an exercise class at the school gym for other stay at home moms like me where they could bring their children. I had an exercise routine of walking, and swimming but running? No.

  1. My wife stayed home with our daughter, but I never made the mistake of saying she didn’t work. Whenever I filled in for her, I was very happy to get back to my day job.
