It was Saturday and the whole town showed up at the annual Best Bug Competition. Every year many children foraged the beach sand, garden dirt or attics and garages to find the most unusual bugs for the contest.
Never to be outdone, old Mr. Jones, sometimes referred to as “the maniac”, participated and oftentimes won. “It isn’t rocket science; I’m just an old idiot who loves creatures”, he always said when receiving the prize, a year’s prescription for Bugaway Juice. He lived on the edge of town in a shanty that had seen better days. It was only at competition time that he searched out the invertebrates that shared his home.
