Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 53

The blooms were hidden under snow

Their quiescent bulbs were resting

Among the soil and roots of trees

The daffodils were silent

Waiting to emerge in spring

Welcoming the suns warm rays

They move a bit, upward bound

To rise above a chilled ground

The layers cannot hold them long

Only till the robin’s song

Is heard, do they awake

Wanting more than bud to make

A long stem a requirement

To sprout and hold the bud

Pushing through the chilly soil

It’s almost reached its reward

Reaching, growing sun toward

One leaf, more, splay their arms

A yellow flower holds the charm

The daffodil has arrived.
