Warning, rant:
Sometimes people take themselves a little too seriously. Say they put a rude comment on someone’s blog. . .Say you have a blog, it’s your space, you should feel free here on WordPress to state your feelings and your works of art or photography, stories, etc and if someone doesn’t like it, they really don’t have to read or say something derogatory.
However, some people must think it’s their “responsibility” to point out your mistakes, lack of ideas they agree with, performance in story writing, etc. In my opinion, that’s the work of a small mind. Why even read or comment if you want to criticize in a demeaning manner?
About a year ago I had this discussion with another blogger I read a lot. He said he welcomed criticism because it made him a better writer. I understand that aspect, but why let criticism mushroom into rudeness? There’s no place here for that. JMO
Excellent response to the ‘mushroom’ prompt. And I agree about comments. I have to say that in my experience with Word Press the comments have been quite polite. Facebook on the other hand………!

Exactly! My blog is my space for whatever I deem worthy of putting out to the world. To criticize that or minimize that or make fun of that or say anything demeaning…well makes that person an ass. I just read a blog where a blogger criticized other bloggers for being boring and mundane and posting pictures they didn’t like. I’ve had others say omg how many sunset pics can you post? My reply. As many as I damn well please and don’t let the door hit ya. I mean go somewhere else, read something else.
Anyway. Kudos to you. Bravo for this post

I definitely hope the day goes better for you! Although rudeness is by no means new, the Internet has really given it a place to thrive. There’s just something about knowing that you’re anonymous and never going to see the other person. Even if a person means well, it’s also hard to remember there’s a person on the other end of that net connection, and it’s a little to easy to hit “send” before truly thinking about it.
That said, I can’t stand it either when what could have been constructive and valuable criticism turns into nothing but a mean-spirited nitpick.

I totally agree… We don’t get paid to entertain each other, and I feel like people who don’t like what I do should just pass by and not come back. I know that’s what I do when I visit blogs that aren’t for me…

I agree. If someone doesn’t like or agree with a post, that’s fine. But just move along. No reason to be an ass about it. Of course, the Trumpster Fire and his child-like tweeting have seemed to give everyone and anyone free reign to be an asshat. 😃
