Good afternoon people! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! I want to preface this post with the title above : Stream of Consciousness, meaning writing without edit, what you are feeling.
I was reading posts this morning and came around to suziland.net, home to Obsolete Childhood. It seems Suze’s reign is trying to be reined in by some of her readers’ comments, definitely raining on her parade. Enough with the joke. Now if you read her blog regularly, you know she is intelligent, hilarious, loving, and compassionate. She’s also outspoken to a fault, as most of us around her age are. She wrote a personal story about her feelings of teens and under having babies. Check it out.
I happen to agree with her and since she has worked with people this age, I’m sure her reasoning is valid. My daughter also worked with teens that were pregnant, and it was usually no mistake. They wanted to be pregnant for reasons most of us would sympathize with but don’t fully understand. The many reasons for this I’m not going into here. I’m not a psychologist. My personal opinion is that sex education, birth control, and planned parenthood options should be available to anyone. The cost is one of the reasons for not wanting these programs. But consider the cost of housing and feeding an unwanted child – a very sad fact I agree, but ignoring this whole situation isn’t going to change or stop people’s behavior.
Okay, if you’re shocked, angry, upset, whatever, I’m sorry about that. I’m not sorry about my opinion. Comment, please. Let’s get more discussion about this subject. Thanks for reading.
