“A sorry state of affairs” she uttered quietly after the waiter plopped the cork in front her husband’s plate. Pouring a bit of wine into the glass as he smiled down at him, some of the red liquid spit out on the white tablecloth. The red faced waiter whipped off the napkin on his arm and quickly covered the mess.
